Hello and welcome to my website.
I have called my private practice ‘talking with gwynne’ because through talking with me we will create the changes you desire !
The ‘with’ identifies my investment in you and in creating the therapeutic relationship or safe space that will be the basis of the counselling. This ‘space’ is based upon mutual respect, trust and care and developing understanding of the nature and context of the problem- together.
I hope my website helps you decide if I offer the type of counselling/ therapy that is right for you and answers any questions you have. I want you to get a feel of who I am, professionally and personally, how I work and how I will guide and support you through your psychological journey. To do this, I have explained why I do what I do, where I do it and when. I have shared my experience and integrity within my professional and ethical practice and the validity of the theories that underpin my work. I hope sharing this information will assist you to decide if I am ‘a’ or even ‘the’ practitioner that can help you ?
Some pages in my website are about my developing personal/ professional practice interests in Huntington’s Disease for clients and therapists. The full intention is to collegiately inform, understand and advance psychotherapeutic practice for anyone affected by this disease. In this shared arena built on openness and commitment, I aim to give a voice to the HD community to support therapists to work positively with them, a group who are underrepresented in counselling/ psychotherapy literature and practice. I sincerely welcome your contributions to this task, with the ultimate aim of networking and advancing best practice. I want to discover what this means to anyone affected by HD or counsellors working with HD clients. Quite simply my intention is for clients like me to support practitioners like me, in their practice so we all do the best we can for the HD community.
Thank you for taking the time to meet me and visit my website. I hope you find it informative and helpful. I will welcome your feedback about any and all of what I have produced here.
